Okay I really like this movie. I first saw it back when I was a teenager (don't ask how long ago) and I loved it even then. This is a B movie, and like all B movies, it had a limited budget and some quirky special effects, but in all those made it even more enjoyable. A tale of Post-War Earth can hardly go wrong. Especially one with a group of kids presevering over an Evil Man.
P.U. Sir, what did you have for lunch? Here is your standard boy finds glowing sphere, boy loses glowing sphere, boy rescues glowing sphere (Which didn't really need rescuing, but it's the thought that counts.) and finally glowing sphere sets the Earth's water free - kinda story. Oh yeah, did I mention they wear rollerskates the whole time? Terra..can I touch your ball? How these kids ride rollerskates in sand, I'll never know. But ride they do, and they encounter some true "characters" out in the sand dunes. Espcially in Tire Town. I'll also never understand how the citizens of Tire Town knew to put exactly 5 large tires on the outskirts of their city just for the gang to ride down the hill on. And the tanks the police ride in are hilarious! Ahh the joys of B Movie Magic! "Daniel...I am your father" In all this is a great movie to watch if you've got some freetime late one night. You'll get some giggles, gasps, and Gertz (I just LOVE Jamie Gertz!) what else do you need?! And for those that are following..SensualSimian had NOTHING to do with my choice of movie this time :> Is it just me, or does these folks look like they belong in "Lost Boys"?? |
